Captain Kurtz is well known Winchester native, served in 5^th Virginia Infantry. His unit was in Winchester a number of times. The name on the wall is quite clear although there is no regimental information included with it. This soldier has an extensive record, and is a native son of Winchester. I am not sure we will be able to prove that the name on the wall is Captain Kurtz, he could have been at the courthouse while Federal prisoners were held, or later or this could be somebody else..
